Whereas Mr, Sutherficld may feel that he represents a ‘‘silent majority’’ of the people in our area, we feel that as the spokesmen for a not so silent minority, any attempt by the police to evict the Panthers from the apart- ment they are occupying will cause more unnecessary mass murders in our area, Therefore, we ask that if any- thing is to be done about the Panther situation, perhaps food and money should be allocated for their use in the Free Breakfast Program that they are interested in starting tn the De- sire Housing Project arca, Perhaps if the ‘law and order" ad- vocates of this city and of this state would spend more time affecting chan- ges in the system that require NO use of violent (police) tactics to put down nonviolent, Free Breakfast Pro- grams, such as the one the Panthers have in mind, we could all sleep bet- ter at night, knowing that the police will not have reagon to fire upon @ Panther’ stronghold” to use this as an excuse to call in re-inforcements to have another bloody gun fight!
