THE POLICE STATE AND REAGAN’S
SLAVE LABOR SCHEMES
Reagan’s latest proposal is to force
hundreds of thousands of poor and
oppressed people, ‘‘recipients’’, off
the welfare rolls and to limit medi-
cal care for poor people and others
on welfare, so as to force another
two million into slave labor by forc-
ing people to do unskilled labor work,
People are not going to stand for
slavery, slave labor schemes, and
The People will at least take the posi-
tion to rebel more openly than sing-
ing ‘‘I would rather be dead in my
grave than ever be a slave,’’ And the
present police state apparatus in Cal-
ifornia will be out to kill and mur-
der poor people and black people who
draw their checks and refuse to work
under aslavery scheme, because we the
people know that the bulk of the taxes
we’ve paid has been ripped off by
the small minority exploiting class,
demagogic politicians, rich industrial
hogs,.,all of whom are still in pig
control of the means of production,
Now comes, with Nixon’s approval,
Reagan’s cheap slave labor scheme in
the midst of the world’s most wealthy,
industrially developed, technological
society, This slave labor scheme will
force more people into burglary and
petty crimes to survive, and will re-
sult in nothing less than city-made
ghetto plantation operations where even
highly-skilled, forced-to-be unem-
ployed persons have no alternative but
to be subjected to the concentration
camp - poor, oppressed ghetto com-
munity occupied by the .brutal, mur-
dering pig police, ‘
No man or woman should be ham-
strung with such slave labor schemes,
especially within the midst of a world
of technological wealth and means of
production and industrial development
which warrants the right of all human
beings to a high standard of living,
The only force at the disposal of
Reagan, Nixon, and the avaricious-dem-
agogic elite ruling class to force the
massive poor and oppressed into and
further under such __ slave-labor
schemes is that of armed, equipped-
for-overkill, pig police who become
the modern, backward functioning slave
overseer, In stead of a whip in hand,
its rifle butts, billy clubs, ,357 mag-
num guns andconcentration-camp jails
are already in existence,
One institution which must not be
allowed by the people to continue func-
tioning against the people is the police
departments controlled and run by the
avaricious, demagogic, exploiting, rul-
ing-class rich and their puppet poli-
ticians from Nixon’s end of this coun-
try to Reagan’s California,
The major organizational task which
the people must undertake is to im-
plement community control of the
police departments where the people
of the communities control and run
the police departments, not the avar-
icious, demagogic, ruling, exploiting,
elite class, where the person who
patrols a neighborhood police district
is a living, resident member of that
same exact community, and where
basic institutional functions are con-
trolled by the people. Without this
power in the people’s hands, we can
and will be subjected to slavery at any
time, :

Ronald Reagan’s attempt to set up a
further degeneration of this society
through slave-labor and concentration-
camp schemes developing out of police
state-ism,

To the State of Nevada and the
welfare administrator, George Miller,
take notice: You’ve made war on the
poor by cutting them off welfare, you
have taken the food off of the table
and the coof from above the heads of
little children; you have made illegai
profits by cutving a basic minimun for
decent living, by giving the poor and
jobless checks for half their survival
needs; you have judged people on wel-
fare as subhuman because they could
not find adequate jobs in your op-
pressive society; you have alienated
your own people and stripped them of
their dignity; and you justify this op-
pression in the name of protecting the
money of the state,
Your state claims that the welfare
recipients cheated in declaring their

PEOPLE’S FREE HEALTH CENTER AIDS
IN CORRECTING CHILD’S EYESIGHT
The Black Panther Party
people’s Free Health Center in
Boston has been functioning for
almost a yedr now, serving the
needs of the community with free
medical care.
On Friday, February 25, 4
community sister received a vi-
tal operation made possib}
the Free Health Center. Fourt
month-old Stacey Burston re-
ceived an eye operation to cor-
rect her eye sight. Since birth,
she has had a problem with the
muscles in her eyeswhichare
responsible for moving her eyes
horizontally. .\t
(August , 1970 ), Stacey was taken
zo Boston Children’s Hospital to
see a specialist who haphazardly
examined her, eyes, and pre-
scribed glasses, telling her pa-
rents to return with her in six
months,
During that time Stacey’s eyes
became worse and had turned
farther inward. She had also be-
gun to walk sideways and has to
turn her head sideways to look
at objects. Her parents were
never informed that a series of
simple operations could straigh-
ten - out her eyes,
On January 26, Stacey was
brought to the Free Health Cen-
ter for an examination and sub-
sequently received an appoint-
ment with an eye specialist who
arranged the first operation.
MERRITT
COLLEGE
STRIKES
The students of Merritt College
with the support of the community
have again exemplified the Power
of the People. Since March 15th,
they have controlled the main
campus buildings to demand that
the Peralta Board (College Board
of Trustees) refuses to turn this
community college over to the
community, to whom control of
the college’s programs rightfully
belongs. On March 16th, three of
the Strike leaders were arrested,
One of them was Doug Miranda,
The following is a list of the
demands;
We want to restate and re-
emphasize the original three de-
mands that were passed by the
Peralta Board on November 2,
1970:
1. Merritt should be keptopen
and in full operation until
such time as a new facility
in the flatlands should be
completed,

3. That Merritt campus, and
any future campus in the
flatlands, be funded from
the Peralta District as a
whole,

2. We demand complete aca-
demic «and political amnesty for
all striking students and faculty,
as well as no financial victimi-
zation for any participating stu-
dents, faculty and non-academic
personnel. We demand full credit
for all courses for all students
who are currently enrolled.
3. We demand complete auton-
omy (political, financial and aca-
demic) for all Third World studies
departments.
4. No cops on campus! This
means Oakland or Berkeley Pol-
ice, \lameda County Sherriffs or
undercover police.
5. We demand that the Peralta
Board turn over facilities (money
mailing lists, etc.) to the strike
coulition to conduct the election
of a Community Control Board,
This board, to be composed of
students, faculty and community
people that are not students, will
assume all decision making power
about Merritt College as of July 1,
1971 as voted by the Peralta Board
on November 2, 1970,
6, We demand that the name
Merritt College remain with the
Grove Street Campus until such
time as the Community Control
Board decides to change it.
7. We further demand that a
full and «adequate budget for
Merritt College on Grove Street
for the fiscal year 1971-1972 be
produced for approval by the Com-
munity.

TERRORIZED
On the 18th. of February at 6:30
P.M. « unit of approximately 50
Seattle City pigs converged on
the home of Mrs. Lila Mae Ed-
wards at 2014 E, Fir Str: The
pigs said they were lookiny for
her 18 year old son, Alvin Ea-
wards, as ispect in the shoot-
ing of a pig early the same morn-
ing. The pigs had the home tuder
surveiliance for several sours
Finally they knocked on tae door
and ed for Alvin Edwards and
said that they had a warrant for
his arrest for BURGLARY, al-
though that is not the same as a
warrant .o search the house,
Mrs. Edwards refused to open the
door at first and finally cracked
“the door toi de the warrant. \s
Soon as Mrs, Edwards cracked
the door, the pigs inmediately
forced entry, knocking Mrs. Ed-
wards back, up against the wall.
They then grabbed Mrs. Edwards
in the collar and said ‘‘We know
he’s here, wher is he hi en
Upon entry, with weapons drawn,
the pigs immediately pegan to
ransack the house on the pretense
of looking for Alvia, who ws not
there, and the murder weapon.

Edwards, ‘‘You better tell Al-
vin to come down to the station
when he gets home or they will
kill him on sight when they see
him.”’ After this they milled
around for a few minutes more
and then left. There was still a
very heavy concentration of pigs
in the neighborhood for the next
24 hours.
At around 7:00 P.M, or ashort
time after, the same number of
pigs succeeded in arresting Al-
vin Edwards. This time they in-
vaded the home of Chris Will-
iams and Curtis Lester, friends
of Alvin Edwards, at 3939 1Sth
mys
Ave. South. They also had this _
house under surveillance for
sometime before they raidedbe
cause Curtis Lester was ar-
rested as a second suspect af-
ter he came out of the house, got
in his car and drove around the
corner on the way to the store.
They kept Curtis in the pig car
around the corner until the attack
on his home was over. After they
had arrested Curtis, the pigs
Stationed themselves all around
the house while one rang the
doorbell. Chris came to the door
and opened it. Without say-
ing anything about a search war -
rant, the pigs forced their way in
with guns drawn. Immediately
upon entry they grabbed Chris,
handcuffed, and searched him.
They ransacked the house for
weapons, they found and stole a
legally owned shotgun. Chris’s
girlfriend, Linda Fletcher, was
physically assaulted, Chris Wil-
liams and Linda Fletcher were
not arrested.
When arrested at Chris‘ house,
Alvin was searched inside then
brought outside und searched
again . Ile was hit twice in the
head twice in the stomach
with « sawed off shotgun. Alvin
was not informed of his rights
and was subjected to more bru-
tality and harassment as the pigs
drove him all around town before
going to the pig station, trying to
make Alvin say he did it. When
\lvin arrived at the pig station,
he was taken to the Homicide Di-
vision and was immediately in-
terrogated, :
The defense attorney for the
Seattle N,C.C.F. arrived shortly
thereafter to see Alvin andtoin-
vestigate the manner in which he,
his family and friends had been
treated by th pigs. After the de-
fense attorney left,! Alvin was
taken upstairs to be booked, Al-
and
vin Edwards was held for approx-
imately another fourteen hours
and was released the next day,
Friday, at around 1:30 P.M, , af-
ter standing in a line up with some
othe brothers that were kid-
napped and brutalized inthe same
manner. Curtis Lester was re-
leased the same evening that he
was arrested because according
to the pigs ‘‘He didn’t fit the des-
cription.””
The defense attorney, John
Caughlan, is getting together with
the Edwards family along with the
other Black people that were sub-
jected tothe brutality andharas-
sment by the pigs to file several
suits against the city and State
for false arrest andgeneralhar-
assment of the Edwards family
for the last two years. Mrs, [:d-
wards has two sons in jailnowat
this writing, a third was justre=
leased after serving « lengthy
sentence, and Alvin wiio is the
youngest has been continuously
harassed for the last ‘two or
three years himself.

BRADLEY GREEN SENTENCED 15 TO 50 YEARS
Friday, February 19,1971,
Bradley Greene,a member of the
Black Panther Party, was sen-
tencedto 15 to 50 years on a con-
viction for the alleged shooting
death of a patrolman, Kennth G.
Kaner, a member of the Chi-
cago Pig Dept.
We, the comrades, of Brad
Greene see this sentence as being
consistant with all the actions of
this fascist oriented regime
which controls the Babylonian
(Amerikkkan) empire. We have
come to recognize that as Re-

volutionaries working for
transformation of this re.
tionary empire which intercom-
munally controls the world ,we
are constantly faced with the
threat of death, exile, and im-
prisonment.
lradley Greene's sentence
does not alarm us, but rather
it is the impetus for our contin-
uing struggle against this de-
structive reactionary empire of
Babylon, This act of repression
will only increase the mass re-
sistance by the people against
the oppressive social structure.
According to the laws written
for the court which ried Brad,
he was innocent. Ilowever, those
laws are only on paper and they
are no longer the fiber of jus-
tice which determines whether a
person is guilty or innocent. The
determining factor is the rela-
tionship that the accused has with
the reactionary empire that the
courts serve, Bradley Greene
was convicted and sentenced be-
cause he is a member of the
Black Panther Party.
The facts concerning the actual
trial itself, are at most inci-
dental to the actions of the court.
It is a matter of court record
and public knowledge that Bruce
Sharp, acommuaity member, ad-
mitted killing Kaner, But the

judge and prosecutor knew that
regardless of who didthe killing,
if a Panther, a Revolutionary
could in anyway be construed into
the case, then the Panther as an
ultimate enemy of the system,
must be convicted,
Bruce Sharpe confessed to the
killing because it could not be
disproved, Bruce Sharpe's state-
ment which indicated that Krad
had no knowledge of the shooting,
nor participated in any plans of
conspiracy, is a statement which
muust be credited by the court as
being true,
But the judge as part of the
oppressors machinery, in being
consistent with the law andorder
of fascism, stated that he found
Bruce Sharpe's testimony hard to
believe and therefore proceeded
to sentence [jradley Greene. The
judge’ s statement was designed to
mislead the people. However this
futile act by the oppressors’
agents was readily recognized by
the people, and the case of
Bradley Greene, like many
others experienced by the peo-
ple, only served to show the con-
tinuous oppression and misery
suffered by the people.
In the process of exhausting
all legal channels for the pur-
pose of educating the people, a
motion for a new trial will be
filed, bradley Greene's freedom
like countless other political
prisoners, is not embodied inthe
acts of legality, but rather it
can become a reality when the
masses of people rise up and
understand that Revolution is the
only solution for the problem
faced in this oppressive society.

and all oppressed people held

PRISONERS TIME
The penality of losing good
time could be very critical for
inmates in any penal institution
throughout Babylon, Largely it
depends on the sentence that’s
received from the fascist capi-
talist pigs through their courts
of so called justice, Here at
Tennessee State Prison we, the
inmates, face a fascist conspiracy
of extortion.
A prisoner entering T.S.P,
with a ten year sentence, for
example, ordinarily is eligible
for parole after four years and
and one month, After six years
and one month, his ten year
sentence would be considered
completed because of ‘'zood and
honor time credits’? and the
prisoner would he released,
Unsurprisingly, the administra-
tion of Nashville Tennessee State
Penitentiary has gradually de-
veloped a conspiracy to extort
the inmates time. The capitalist
pigs have skillfully designed what
they call an attitude report pro~
gram. Dy giving them the author-
ity to write an attitude report
at the end of a quarter which
is three months, this program
gives the rent-a-pigs andfascist
pig guards a method of ‘justi-
fied’ harassment.
The seriousness of this plot
isthat it gives prejudiced prison
personnel the advantage of
harassing prisoners, especially
the Blacks, without an investi-
gation on behalf of the inmate,
to have his good time taken. For
example, in our celling units if
a yuard says something to an
inmate that the inmate doesn't
like, he doesn't necessarily have
to: say anything back in words
(the inmate), but if the guard
doesn’t like the expression on
his face then at the end of the
quarter that guard can write a
bad attitude report. The report
‘will be acted upon immediately
in the guard's favor.
This is a conspiracy to iso-
late the political prisoners and
prisoners of war already here
and incoming to the institution by
extending their sentences to the
limit. The pigs are hoping to
successfully break the spirit of
freedom and restore a mental
inferiority complex towards op-.
pression. This, of course, is a
tactic Similar to those used in
the days of our forefathers. When
the oppressor tortured our peo-
ple, beat our people, murdered
our peopte, he then expected them
to humbly obey with an inferiority
complex of being subnormal.
The many prisons here in
Babylon are no different than
slavery, Only the names have
been changed from plantation
to so called “rehabilitation in-
stitutions." To justify indeed, the
injustice, prejudice, discrimina~
tion, that has occured with bru-
tality and harassment throughout
the many black colonies in l}aby-

Inmate Tennessee State Prison
“VOICE PRINT’? KEEPS WOMAN
IN JAIL FOR 9 MONTHS
St. Paul, Minn. (LNS) -- Connie
Trimble, 18 year old black wo-
man, charged with murdering a
policeman, has been sitting in
jail for nine months, locked in
with the belp of a $50,000 bail.
She was 4 community organizer,
working with the Inner City Youth
League, (ICYL).
Last May, the police got a
call from «4 Woman Saying she
was about to birth and
askin, for a ride to the hospital,
When they arrived at the ad-
dress she gave then, they were
met by gunfire and one cop was
killed. The only evidence is the
tape of the voice of the woman
who called up, The police de-
partment claims that a ‘‘voice
print’ (a new technological ad-
rive
vance to replace finger print-
ing) of the woman's voice mat~
ches one they made later of
Connie’s voice. Yet a professor
from California who testified for
the defense at the hearing
that one of his students made a
voice print and her voice mat-
ched the caller's
better In California and New
Jersey, voice prints have be
ruled inadmissable as evidence.
Furthermore, no detailed studies
aid
voice even
n
have been made with female
voices, which give less extensive
and hazier patterns thaa male
voices.
To get the recording of
Connie's voice, the Welfare de-
parunent co-operated with the
police department by calling
Connie into their office saying
they needed information to deter-
mine her welfare status, A po-
liceweman then called in saying
she was a welfare statistician and
recorded het conversation with
Connie.
Sincé she has\ heen in jail,
Connie has developed kidney and
eye infectioas: and she hasn't
been given any medical attention,
She has not been allowd to see
her 15 moath old child nor even
to bold the baby, when her mo-
ther brought him into. court,

around 9:30 P.M, , Comrades
Bradford Smith and Teddy An-
drews were outside the Black
Panther Party office located at
3625 Wallace St. Philadelphia,
Pennsylvania, The Brothers
were cleaning up Some trash in
front of the office when a pig rid-
ing in’car # 1612 came by and
told them to get off the street.
The brothers, not seeing any rea-
son why they had to get off the
street, kept on working. Thepig
drove away and about 5 minutes
later came back around the cor-
ner and jumped out his car pull-
ing out his .357 magnum, The
brothers, seeing this, startedto-
ward the office. The pig hollered,
“Don’t run, nigger, or I'l
shoot.”
The brothers got inside the of-
fice and told their comrades what
was happening. The pig, knowing
what he was doing and where he
was, called for more pigs andina
matter of seconds, 2 pig wagons
and about six pig cars came on the
scene. The pigs were preparing to
vamp, but the people inside the
office had slipped outside and be-
gan to alert the people of the com~
munity. The people began to come
out of their houses and check out
the situation. When the pigs saw
this, they began to pull back and
pretend that they were checking
an old house across the street
from the office. When they were
asked what they were doing, the
District Command pig said, ‘We
thought someone was breaking
into this house here.”
We know and they know that no
one was trying to break into any
house. It was plain to see that the
pigs were trying to provoke an in-
cident with us, so that they could
yamp on the people's office and

400 years of economic exploita-
tion and racial suppression has
taken a heavy toll within the ranks
of our people, \s a psychological
defense against the frustrations
caused by previously used incor-
rect methods of liberation, andus
a defense against the daily in-

of our people have developed what
is known as the ‘Identification
with the \ggressor Complex,’’ or
more simply, the slave-master
mentality. These people, in a
weird process of the mind become
over rawed with the superficial
strength of the oppressor, cannot
see the oppressor’s eventual end,
and become his faithful servants.
In that choice between. licking
the master’s boots or tuking his
head, these few choose to lick
his boots and gobble up what
criimbs might fall their way. In
this state of mind, to think in
the manner taught by the oppres-

to flash his picture as front page
news, implying his guilt before
any actual proof is given and
making impossible even the idea
of a fair impartial trial. Ina typ-
ical move, combining tnreason-
ing racist logic with the myth of
“justice” in America, pigs
Muise and Ross together with
their superior pigs and members
of the reactionary news media,
have constructed a fantastic lie
which clouds the true details of
the incident. but regardless of
these distortions, the reality of
the just revolutionary act of
March 1, cannot be changed.

Camil spent 20 months in Viet-
nam from Mar. 1966 to November
1967. This was ‘ong -before any-
one had dreamed‘ of My Lai.
At the opening session of the
tribunal it was made quite clear
that Vietnam vets were going to
rell everything:
“*We intend to tell Americayes,
we killed and often tortured pris-
oners; yes, we destroyed villages
and even parts of cities andentire
towns cor no discernible purpose;
yes, we used weapons and muni-
tions andi even gas, banned by
international law; yes, we forcibly
removed entire populations.
“*But we intend to tell more.
“We Intend to show chat the war
erimes in Vietnam did not start
in March 1968, or in the village
of Song My or with one Lt.
William Calley.”
When the Vietnam yeteran who
read the opening address was fin-
ished, he tore his service ribbons
and meda's from his uniform and
threw tem into a trasa can in
front of the speaker’s table.
“The orders were through the
chain of command from the CO,

“When we unloaded the prison-
ers on the grouad. the crew would —
taxe their hands and feet and
throw them as far as they could
and they would land on a rock or
the ground. If they broke their
necks, that was just part of the
game." F
When asked how they ¢ stlhave
done these things to civilians, one
vet answered; ‘ft wasn't like they
were humans. They were a zook
or a commie and it was OK."
Another added; ‘‘We were Ameri-
cans; we were tne civilized peo-
ple.”
Medics testified that wounded
Vietnamese wer not taken to
American hospitals, and that the
medics were issued small bottles
of serum alpumia and told, ‘‘This
bottle is worth $25, never use it
on a gook.””
A former meinber of a psycho-
logical warfare unit of the Green
Berets cvestified that prisoners or
detainees that were brought to his
camp were immediately question-
ed ‘‘and if they balked ar all,
or sounded like they weren’t going
to be cooperative,’’ they were
placed in a room overnight with a
python snake,
One yet testified about the de-
foliant spray ‘‘agentorange”’ used
in South Vietnain which contains
foetus--deforming thalidomide. In
one province he said he observed
20 deformed babies who had “‘flip-
pers’’ for limbs.

When asked why they hadpartic=
ipated in torture, the vets answer -
ed that it was standard practice;
that they had been taught by the
military to think of the Vietnamese
as non-persons; that they were
just sick at the time; that they
weuld be killed for disobeying;
that after killing a lot of people
torturing them didn’t seem like
much; or that they just didn’t
know the answer,

from the Warners’ testimony:
MR, WARNER: What the hell,
when you lose your only son you
are going to think about it day
and night and a track driver has
a lot of time ro think while driv--
ing on the ryad,,.Oa the question
of the wary I was au a few
years ago,but I think it is im-
portant to listen to the young p2o--
ple. Ihave done that, I nave tal«—
ed to a lot of young people. And
I don’t believe that my so or
the life of any American boy or
any Vietnamese should be sacri-
ficed to keep Ky in power.
«--Even if they let my boy come
home now, the basic problem
weuld not be solved. [ want all
the boys home. Ali 300.000 or
400,000 Americajs, for they are
prisoners of war too, { aave a
special interest in the war and so
I have read the eight poias in
the program of Mrs. Binh. | lixe
her proposals and | think we opie
to accept them, get all the boys

and let the people of South Viec-
nam solve their own problems.
«The Pentagon has especially
used the families of the prisoners
of war First they ordered us to

about the American atrocities
were about to break, they had
us begin this phony campaign of

wife and they have tried to use
me and my daugater, and they have
used my son, But it stops here.,,
The Vietnamese people are not
my enemy. My eneinies are those
in Washington who keep this war
going.”
MRS, WARNER; “When the Na-
tional League of Families of Pris-
oners of War was set up, I was
asked to serve as a coordinator
and I agreed to do so. I was
anxious to meet other familizs
who nad boys in the Hanoi ari-
sons, The program, however, nev--
er made very much sense to me

George Jackson (Soledad Brothers is
being held in maximim sécurity in
San Quentin. The last ten years of his
life, he has been imprisoned. As if the
total barbarism of holding this man
in jail for ten whole years on the
minor charge of second degree robbery
(which he did not commit), and add-
ing the injurious insult of putting a
completely phony murder charge on
him were not enough, this time the
San Quentin pigs themselves have
denied him the most basic human right.
They are now denying him all medical
treatment or aid.!

rade, George Jackson, and call for all
persons involved in the medical pro-
fession to come to his aid. We partic-

Dear Comrades,
We, the Soledad 7, commend the
Black Panther Party for their diligent
efforts in helping engender the support
of the people in behalf of the political
prisoners throughout the penal system
of California in particular the
“Soledad Brothers,’’ Your allegiance
to our struggle in combating an attempt
by the reactionary prison officials of
Soledad to maliciously prosecute us
has not only provided animpetus for us,
to maintain a high degree morale, but
has proven once again that the Black
Panther Party is truly the people’s van-
guard party, We, also, commend the
Party for always showing tremendous
courage in. the face of the enemy!

When the reactionary prison officials
first sought to use politically conscious
Black inmates as scapegoats for the
July 23, 1970 slaying of aprison guard,
the Party immediately dispatched a
Party representative to Soledad along
with an attorney; all during the course
of the 49 days that the reactionary pri-
son officials illegally confined us to O
Wing, the Party representative main-
tained contact with us, our families,
and began to procure political support
ANOTHER
Monday morning, March 15th, at the
Alameda County Courthouse, fascist
D.A. Jenson in an attempt to aid the
Nixon-Agnew-Mitchell clique, laid
ground work for his pre-planned, at-
tempted railroad of our Chief of Staff,
David Hilliard,
On April 6, 1968, 17-year old Bobby
Hutton, a member of the Black Panther
Party was murdered by Oakland Pigs.
Later that same year, our Chief of
Staff was acquitted of charges
stemming from the same incident - two
counts of attempted murder on pigs
and two counts of assault, Since that
time the District Attorney has appealed
the acquittal decision and Has been
granted a re-trial, On Monday David
went to court to be illegally tried for
the exact same charges he was ac-
tor us by educating the people as to the
nature of the malicious conspiracy be-
ing plotted against us, Once the people
began expressing Concern and letting it
be known that they wholeheartedly are
with us by attending our pre-trial hear-
ings in Salinas, the reactionaries very
well knew that the eyes of the people are
upon them, Since the majority of the
mess media is controlled by the “‘power
elite’ and give preference to whatever
issues they so desire and most of the
time supporting the interests of gov-
ernment objectives, it is necessary for
progressive, and revolutionary papers
such as the Black Panther Paper to pro-
mote the true nature of the malicious
conspiracies being waged against
Comrades like Bobby Seale and many
poor people who are facing similar
trumped-up charges, The contradic-
tions of America’s faltering judicial
system must be unveiled to all the peo-
ple, It is the people, public opinion,
that forces the ‘‘Power Elite con-
trolled media’’ to carry objective ar-
ticles and news coverage of the many
political trials now pending across the
country.
The reactionary prison officials
within the California penal system have
for vears been slaying inmates such as
the ‘‘January 13, 1970 Massacre’’ when
3 Blacks died in a hail of bullets fired
by a blood thirsty pig. However, the
reactionary prison officials in Sacra-
mento are reviewing their past policy
of letting ultra-right wing paramilia-
taristic guards carry out executions of
political prisoners because they know
the eyes of the people are upon them,
They realize the growing political
consciousness of the people and how
people are beginning to see the politi-
cal motive behind their acts, Kwame
Nkrumah says: ‘“‘there is no force,
however formidable,that a united peo-
ple cannot overcome, .,’’The outcome of
the Bobby Seale trial depends entirely
upon the support the people give tosee’
that ifthere is one ounce of justice
left in the United States’ judicial sys-
tem, he shall receive that justice and
be acquitted, We must prevent the reac-
tionary forces from using aconviction
against Bobby Seale as a political vic-
tory and rallying point for the reaction-
ary forces across the country, Surely,
they would use such a conviction as a
precedent, a mere criteria, for future
political cases, Let us pay heed to the
handwriting on the wall! Let us combat
fascism in everyway we can!

CAIRO, ILLINOIS
The beginning of the Black peo-
ple of Cairo’s current struggle
was March 31, 1969, when the
White vigilantes of Cairo shot in-
to the all-Black housing project
for over two and one half hours,
This was not the first time Whites
had done such violence on Blacks,
It marked a new age, however, in
that Black people stood up to the
racists and refused to give into
these actions which were meant
to keep the Black man ‘in his
place.””
Shortly after the shoot-out the
Black citizens began an economic
Boycott against their White op-
pressors, They said: ‘‘White hats
must go or Black Folks willkeep
their dough,’’The White hats did
not go--they are still here and
actively involved in violence
against Blacks.White hats did not

and others are still going as the
strength and determination of the

In particular, the Boston Chap-
ter of the Black Panther Party,
condemns with the full force ofa
righteous people’s vengeance, a
series of articles that have ap-
peared in the right-wing react-
ionary Boston ‘‘Record Ameri-~_
can” written by a trio of racist
pig news reporters in collusion
with the Boston pig Department.
This series of articles began af=
ter the joyous news broke that two
pigs were critically wounded,
shot by unknown brothers in the
South End, Printed in bold type
was the heading ‘Militants
stockpiling guns. ’’ The articles
consisted of incidents of Pan-
thers , alleged Panthers, or Pan-
ther supporters carrying out
their constitutional rights, in-
cluding legally buying guns.
The obvious intent of the ar-
ticle is not to point out loopholes
in the gun control law, but rather
to sway public sentiment and lay
the foundation for a pig search
and destroy mission against our
information center in Roxbury,
Already the ground work has
been set. On January 5, the Bos-
ton Chapter issued a press state-
ment concerning an attempted pig
attack against us. This trialrun,

On the 3rd of December last year,
an airplane of the Korean People’s
Army engaged in high altitude flying
practice, lost its direction in thick
clouds and after flying around until, ..1)
it ran out of fuel, had to make a forc-
ed landing on the sands near Gan-
sung, 20 Km. south of the Military
Demarcation Line.
Although almost three months have
passed, the Yankee imperialists and
the Pak Jung Hi puppet clique have not
only refused to turn over the pilot and
his plane to the KPA, but continue to
yvesort obstinately to wicked maneuvers
to detain him by force.
As soon as the airman made his
forced landing, the Pak Jung Hi puppet
clique - as has been exposed - re-
leased the fabricated story describing
the case as one of ‘‘surrender’’ and
said they would soon make clear the
“details of his submission,’’
But even though their attempts to
force the Korean People’s Army pilot
to submit have failed,since they have
not presented the so-called ‘details
of submission’, the U.S. imperialists
and the Pak Jung Hi puppet clique
continue their mean maneuvers to hold
the pilot, currently using. the pretext
of an ‘‘investigation,’’ aimed at achiev-
ing their dirty purpose by all means,
No investigation is needed, since it
zis a case of the forced landing of a
KPA plane during high altitude flying
practice, as they themselves have
admitted, Therefore the problem can
only be solved byturning over the pilot
and his plane.
But the Yankee imperialists are now
denying that the KPA pilot made a
forced landing, a fact they themselves
had previously admitted, and are in-
sisting they must make an investiga-
tion. They are now trying to delay the
solution to the current problem citing
the cases of the ‘‘Pueblo’’, the armed
spy ship of the Yankee imperialists;
the ‘‘H-23’' helicopter, the ‘‘I - 2”

spy ship and the ‘‘YS-ll’’ passenger
plane -- all of which were solved long

As is known throughout the world,
all the passengers aboard the ‘‘YS-Il’’
plane returned to their homes as they
desired, except for the airmenand some
of the passengers who wished to live
in the north of the Democratic People’s
Republic of Korea because they opposed
the Yankee imperialist policy of colon-
ial enslavement and the military fascist
rule of terror of the Pak Jung Hi puppet
clique.
It is a foolish delusion for the Yankee
imperialists to think they can accomplish
anything by using as ‘‘bait’’ the case
of the ‘‘YS--Ill’’ passenger plane which.
is not under the authority of the Korean
Military Armistice Commission and has
nothing to do with the problem ofa
KPA pilot who made a forced landing
in the southern part of Korea.
The Yankee imperialists, moreover,
hypocritically allege that the case of
the Korean People’s Army pilot should
be solved according to ‘‘the dignity of
man’? and ‘‘freedom of choice’’ in a
wicked effort to cover up their crimin-
al maneuvers to detain the pilot by
forced and mislead world public opin-
ton.
The requirements ofthe Korean Aym-
istice Agreement and the precedent
cases, oblige Yankee imperialists to
immediately send back the pilot of the
Korean People’s Army who made a
orced landing in the southern part of
Korea.
All facts show clearly that it is un-
reasonable for the Yankee imperialists
to delay the immediate return of the
Korean People’s Army pilot; nor can
they in any way justify their criminal
maneuvers to detain him by force.
The Executive Secretariat of
OSPAAAL, in the name of all the pro-
gressive and revolutionary peoples of
Africa, Asia and Latin America, sternly
condemns the wicked maneuvers of the
Yankee imperialists and the Pak Jung
Hi puppet clique to detain the Korean
People’s Army pilot forced to land in

in| Denmark, On March 5th, six to
seven thousand people demonstrated
in front of the American embassy in
Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark,
The reason for this success is to
be found in the political work that,
for especially the last two years, has
been done here with regard to the
Black Panther Party, In March, 1969,
Bobby Seale visited Denmark; and since
that time, the Danish people have shown
great interest in the black liberation
struggle, in particular the work of
the Black PantherParty, The Danish
press, has, in general, been fair ‘in
its reports about the Black Panther
Party, It has been the politics and
not just the image that has been pro-
jected, Hundreds of meetings at
schools, colleges and public places
have been held by members of the
Black Panther Solidarity Committee
(which was created by Bobby Seale),

Radio programs, newspaper articles
and even television programs have been
made by people in very close con-
tact with the Black Panther Party.
Recently, the informative work a-
round the issue of the Black Panther
Party has been extended to include

(B.P.P.S.C.) today places much em-
phasis upon talking about the oppres-
sive conditions in the U,S,A, in gen-
eral, Since Chairman Bobby Seale was
jailed, he has been the focus of most
activity, And there is a general under-
standing that he is Political Prisoner
Number One in the U.S.A,

darity Committee’s work has been to

Danish High School Union announced
last year that Chairman Bobby Seale
was their choice for the ‘‘Freedom
Prize of 1970’’, This significant en-
gagement on behalf of Danish High
“School students has created a lot of
debate and understanding for Bobby’s
case,
In early January, this year, an ad-
vertisemé |f was pudlished .n one of our
biggest daily newspapers, It was a
statement signed by 175 ‘‘prominent’’
Danes, The statement voiced strong
concern for the developments inside
the U.S, and compared the situation
to Germany in the thirties, Equally
strong concern was voiced for the
support of U.S, to ‘‘fascist and re-
actionary forces all over the world!’’
The statement was an appeal to the
American people to rise up and re-
sist, The most important task now is
to free Bobby Seale, because his case
is ‘‘symbolic for the persecution of
the Left.’”
Among the ones who signed the state-
ment were the former Prime Minister
Viggo Kampmann (Social Democrat),
15 members of Parliament - represent-
ing four political parties, Student lead-
ers, labor union leaders, professors,
priests, artists and many more pro-
fessionals were among the ones who
supported and paid for the statement,
The statement is now being signed
all over Denmark as an open letter
to the American people, Everyone

For the demonstration on March 5th
a broad united front was brought to-
gether, Twenty-four Danish political
organizations supported the call for
the demonstration, To the right were
the youth organizations of one of the
bourgeoisie government parties; to the
far left was a so-called Maoist group;
Communist Youth, Marxist-Leninist,
Included in the front were the paci-
fist War Resisters League, the youth
organization of the Social Democratic
Party, three Parliament - represented
political parties, the anti-imperialist
Vietnam committees, women’s organi-
zations, the Korean-Danish Friendship
union, the Black Panther Solidarity

The very wide base of the front did
not reflect a weak politcal base for the
unity, The call for demonstration was

in South East Asia was stared, This is
not an isolated affair but a result of

The spirits were high when between
50 and 100 persons at 4:00 pm, Fri-
day, started a vigil in front of the
U.S. embassy. Everybody had a sign
around his neck with the name of a
political prisoner, It was good with
the high spirits, because it was ex-
tremely cold, By the time the rally
started at 7:00 pm, it was about 10
centigrades minus (Incentigrades zero
is the freezing point for water; this
was ten below zero,), The cold, of
course, limited the number of partici-
pants, somewhat, However, six to seven
thousand people demonstrated infront
of the embassy, The out-pouring of
people, despite the cold, must be taken
as a clear sign of how worried the
Danes are because of the apparent lack

The demonstration was a strong out-

tionary deserter, spoke about Bobby

major achievement for the Black Lib-
eration struggle,
After the demonstration, sixhundred
people spread information material out
to the worker communities in order to

Platform and Program
What We Want
1. We want freedom. We want power to determine the destiny of our
Black Community.
We believe that black peop!e will not be free until we are able to deter-
mine our destiny
2. We want full employ ment for our people.
We believe that the federal government is responsible and obligated to
give every man employment or a guaranteed income. We believe that if
the white American businessmen will not give full employment. then the
means of production should be taken from the businessmen and placed in
the community so that the people of the community can organize and em-
ploy all of its people and give a high standard of living
3. We want an end to the robbery by the CAPITALIST of our Black
Community
We beheve that this racist government has robbed us and now we are
demanding the overdue debt of: forty acres and two mules Forty acres j
and two mules was promised 100 vears ago as restitution for slave labor
and mass murder of black people: We will accept the payment in-cut reney
Which will be distributed to our many communities. The Germans are now
aiding the Jews in Israel for the genocide of the Jewish people. The Ger-
mans murdered six million Jews. The American racist has taken part in
the slaughter of over fifty millon black people: therefore, we feel that this
is a modest demand that we make
4. We want decent housing. fit for shelter of human beings.
We believe that if the white landlords will not give decent housing to
our black community. then the housing and the land should be made inte
cooperatives so that our community, with government aid. can build and
make decent housing for its people

5. We want education for our people that exposes the true nature of this
decadent American society. We want education that teaches us our true
history and our role in the present-day society.
We believe in an educational system that will give to our people a knowl-
edge of self. If a man does not have knowledge of himself and his position
in society and the world, then he has little chance to relate to anything
else
6. We want all black men to be exempt from military service.
We believe that Black people, should not be forced to fight in the mifi-
tary service to defend a racist government that does not protect us. We
will not fight and kill other people of color in the world who, like black
people, are being victimized by the white racist government of America. _
We will protect ourselves from the force and violence of the racist police
and the racist military. by whatever means necessary.
7. We want an immediate end to POLICE BRUTALITY and MURDER
of black people.

What We Believe
We believe we can end police brutality in our black community by or-
ganizing bjack self-defense groups that are dedicated to defending our
black community from racist police oppression and brutality. The Second
Amendment to the Const’ :t.un of the United States gives a right to bear
arms. We thetefore beueve that all black people should arm themselves
for self-defense
8. We want freedom for all black men held in federal. state, county
and cits prisons and jails.
We believe that all biack people should be released from the many
jails and prisons because thoy have not received a fair and impartial tria!
9. We want all black people when brought to trial to be tried in court by
a jury of their peer group or people from their black communities. as
defined by the Constitution of the United States.
We beileve that the courts should follow the United States Constitution
so that black people will receive fair trials. The 14th Amendment of the
US, Constitution gives a man‘a right to be tried by his peer group. A peer
| tS,4/ person from a similar economic. social, religious. geographical. en-

vironmental. historical and racial background. To do this the court will be
forced to select a jury from the black community from which the black
defendant came. We have been, and are being tried by all-white juries
that have no understanding of the “average reasoning rian" of the black
community

And as our major political objective, a United Nations-supervised plebis-
cite to be held throughout the black colony in which only black colonial
subjects will be allowed to participate, for the purpose of determining the
will of black people as to their national destiny.
When. in the course of human events, it becomes necessary for one
people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with
another. and to assume, among the powers of the earth, the separate and
equal station to which the laws of nature and natur@’s God entitle them, a
decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare
the causes which impel them to the separation
We hold these truths to be self-evident. that all men are created equal;
that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights;
that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. That, to
secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their
just powers from the consent of the governed; that, whenever any form of
government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the right of the people
to alter or to abolish it. and to institute a new government, laying its
foundation on such prineiples. and organizing its powers in such form, as
to them shall seem most likely to effect their safety and happiness. Pru-
dence. indeed. will dictate that governments long established should not
be changed for light and transient causes; and. accordingly, all experience
hath shown. that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are
sufferable. than lo right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they
are accustomed But. when a long train of abuses and Usurpations, pur-
suing invariably the same object, evinces a design to reduce them under ab-
solute despotism. it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such govern-
ment, and to provide new guards for their future security.
